Cardinal Nation Blogs on WordPress.com

Two points of which you should be made aware before you read this:

  • I work for Automattic, the parent company behind WordPress.com (so I work “here”), and
  • You should ask me about my love of baseball and the Cardinals sometime.

Through links to my own site, some random searching and perusal of the baseball tag here on WordPress.com, and looking through the tag page for Cardinal Nation (which I suggest you use if you are a blogger who is all about the Cards), I’m trying to compile a list of Cardinals-related blogs on WordPress.com. If you think your blog should be in this list, please leave me a comment and I’ll check it out.

Perhaps this should lead into a meetup or something of the sort, as it’s always awesome when WordPress peoples get together and always awesome when Cardinals fans get together, so getting those things together can only be a winning combination.

The Sound of a Pujols Homer

When we were at the Cards/Padres game over Opening Weekend, I decided it would be a cool idea to record some of the ambient noise just using the memo feature on my iPhone.

I had completely forgotten about this until just this morning—and when I checked, I realized that I’d recorded a Pujols home run (his first of this year, actually) and the crowd reaction to it. If you listen very carefully, you can hear the ball jump off the bat.

The fireworks going off made Caleb collapse against my shoulder and cover his ears. I don’t think he had any idea what was going on, but he’s said that he’s happy to go to another game so long as there are no fireworks there. (We were also in Left Field Terrace seats for the game, so we were pretty close to the noise.)

“We Are Cardinal Nation” Blog Buttons

As a self-proclaimed and fully-fledged member of Cardinal Nation, I have to admit that I really love the slogan the Cards are using for their publicity this year. I also like to promote things I am interested in or care about.

After a lot of searching, I unfortunately couldn’t find an image that was of a suitable size for displaying in my blog sidebar, so what I did is search for the best image I could find from that campaign, put it in the right sizes, and created a bunch of buttons for myself (you can see one in the sidebar of this blog if you go to the main page).

If you want to use these on your own size, please feel free. I’m not making any claim on the images. Here they are, in several widths:

300px

250px

200px

150px

Yes, I do realize that the words and images used in these are trademarks of the Cardinals organization. If you are reading this and you are from the Cardinals organization, please just contact me if you want them taken down and I’ll do it. Better yet, I would appreciate it if you would take these or make your own and host them on the Cardinals website so others can have the opportunity to proclaim their Cardinals nationality.

Cardinals Stats Analysis: Week 3

Just a brief analysis based on what I saw on the Cardinals’ home page.
