Voices, and the Successes that Should be Awarded Them.

First, allow me to open by congratulating Concordia Theological Seminary on its (relatively) recent decision to open up a blog and encourage the admissions officers—and others in the institution—to make regular posts and find things to talk about, disseminate news, and otherwise promote the life out of CTS Fort Wayne, a place that I very [...]

The LSB Daily Lectionary 2008 Project

One of the most awesome resources provided to the Church through the publication of Lutheran Service Book is the table given in the Daily Lectionary, which is found on page (where is my Pew Edition?) of the Pew Edition. Every copy of Lutheran Service Book in the home contains this list of readings, which are intended to give you a trip through the Scriptures in a single year, with one Old Testament reading and one New Testament reading per day.

So many people resolve at the beginning of the year to more deliberately and purposefully begin a study of God’s Word, but how many of them succeed at this task? If you are to believe this post on the ESV Bible Blog, not many—and you stand the greatest chance of success if you manage to last through the month of March and press on through the year. What a blessing, then, that the LSB Daily Lectionary begins with Ash Wednesday, which is normally more than a full month closer to that point of resistance!

I’m Super; Thanks for Asking

Since its introduction into our home courtesy of my wife and her awesome bargain-finding skills, the Wii has been a central focus point for my leisure time. It’s odd to see how my gaming habits have changed with the arrival of the end of the year 2007. I rarely fire up my Xbox 360 anymore, [...]

For Those—Like Me—Who Depend on Tech to Do Ordinary Things

UPDATE: For reasons of copyrights and permissions, and to obey such laws as they are given to us in the civil realm, I have discontinued the calendar for the Daily Lectionary. I apologize for the inconvenience, especially if you have been following the calendar this year.
It is my hope that Concordia Publishing House will make [...]

It’s iPod, Except with More… Touching… in a Good Way…

I’m now the proud owner of one 16-gigabyte iPod touch, and after a good half-day of messing with it and playing to try and figure the thing out, I have to say that I’m coming away from the first experiences very, very impressed. I find that music library management is going to be difficult for [...]

It Never Feels Much Different, Except for the Whole Time Passing More Quickly Thing

Yes, only a few short hours ago, I officially turned twenty-eight years of age. Thanks to all the people who left messages and/or e-mails for me or threw something up on my Facebook wall, or similar actions.
A whole lot has happened in recent memory, and it’s only now that things seem to be calming down [...]

It’s Only a Couple of Weeks Late, But Whatever.

I just recently collated the photos I took while in South Dakota into a flickr photoset for your viewing enjoyment, including some pictures of Wylie Park and its Storybook Land sculpture garden. There are some very interesting pictures in there; I hope you’ll take a look at it.
I’m still adding descriptions, and haven’t caught up [...]

See? I Told You the Stuff Was Vile.

Says Tycho from Penny-Arcade:
I purchased twenty fluid ounces of Halo 3 “Limited Edition Mountain Dew Game Fuel” in the hopes that it would taste so horrible that we’d get a strip out of it.  Before I read the ingredients in preparation for this post, I often found myself desirous of this strange liquid - [...]

You know that sound you just heard? That was my mind. Blown.

I desperately want to join in on forum threads and read up on the Internet about what I have just experienced this evening, but since I have not yet completed all the tasks in front of me, and I’m trying very, very hard to remain spoiler-free, I am simply avoiding all talk about it with [...]

Is “Confusinger” a Word?

Some of this information will be duplicated in my daily links post from del.icio.us tomorrow morning, but I find it irritating enough that I should say something about it.
What an… interesting day today in the format war between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray Disc. I found out about it via a Twitter post from Microsoft’s Major [...]

This Fall Is Going to Be Very Expensive. I Suppose It’s a Good Thing I Don’t Have Any Money.

Since I was out of town on business and busy with many other things over a period of a few weeks recently, I found that I had somehow managed to “unplug” a little bit, and haven’t been doing much in the way of playing games since then. It’s actually been rather nice to not be [...]
