Well, I didn’t just come back from the hospital, but have indeed been there a few times so far this afternoon and now finally have the time to sit down and make sure that people who should know do know.
Caleb Isaac was born this afternoon (I was so excited and unbalanced that I don’t remember the time). He was 8 pounds, 9 ounces, and is very healthy looking and is now snoozing off the ordeal comfortably in the hospital nursery.
I would have a picture for you, but seeing as how I don’t have a digital camera, you get nothing. If you want something, send me money and then I will buy that camera and you will get your pictures. Otherwise, you will have to wait for me to use up the roll and then to get the pictures developed. Seeing as how grandma Markel is in town, I don’t think getting that done will take very long, because I’m expecting that she will want to take some pictures home for herself.
I had forgotten once again how small these guys are at first. He was like lifting a feather when I picked him up, especially compared to his siblings. He looks more like Abby than he looks like Joshua. Both of them have taken to him immediately; I held Caleb up to each of them - Joshua said he was “cute,” and Abby just looked at him, but they both gave him kisses and seem to understand that he’s more fragile than they are.
I just hope that lasts for the upcoming months.
I’m having a hard time deciding what to type next, mostly because there are so many things I could say. I suppose I will just have to mention once again how much I enjoy being a dad, and leave it at that. I need some sleep - big days like this have a habit of wiping me out, and I’m guessing that at some point tonight, because Amanda is not around, one of the children will end up in here with me because they are missing her something fierce.
It’s then that the dad clause in my contract kicks in and I get to do what I love to do the most, which is take care of these guys and make sure they know I love them.
