Invision Power Board is no longer free.

One of the best community-supported message board systems, Invision Power Boards, was once upon a time offered to people without support and with a copyright license for the wonderful price of zero dollars and zero cents.

Now, it seems as though they’ve gotten greedy and decided that the free version isn’t going to be offered anymore.

Guess it’s a good thing that I have an older pre-release version, because I’m not going to be paying for the darn thing (since it costs $200). I’m more than a little upset about this, because it was one of the best, most easily-altered forum packages in existence, and now it’s not even available anymore.

I suppose I’m going to have to go back to phpBB at this point, since *that* software *is* free, and is still relatively fully-featured. I don’t like it as well as I like Invision Board, but I go where the community goes.

Bah on Invision Power Board. Another fine, community-supported piece of software goes into the dust.

What’s next, WordPress?
