Welcome to the Cougar Concourse.

Check this out.

Now, I know the school’s hurting for money, and they need a reason to exist at this point, and they don’t have the kind of community support that, say Mequon does, but I think this is going just a little far for my tastes.

First, I can’t believe that they would make any serious amount of money on it. Think of the costs associated with putting down the whole thing, brick by brick, not to mention tearing up old bricks when the need to be replaced or are supplanted by customized bricks, and the costs of landscaping the whole thing, and I think you’re going to find that it will be not a huge source of income for my dear, old alma mater.

Second - it looks from the plans from which they grabbed the snapshot on the main page include putting tennis courts where the old “mud pit” field used to be in front of Mary/Martha! What the crap - like we haven’t spent enough money already on trying to get people to go to school there? I don’t understand what that’s all about. That’s not even a logical place for tennis courts to go. I know the tennis team is the only sports program we have going for us at CURF, and the courts we DID have were pretty sad, I don’t think any more money needs to be going into the sports side of things there at the time being.

Third - can you imagine some of the things people are going to be putting on those bricks? Ken and I have already spoken about what kind of ridiculous things we could have engraved on a brick to go on that walkway. I still haven’t really come up with anything original other than MARKLAR or SKILLET, but I’m sure I’ll come up with something in the near future. $50 might not be too bad for a chance to really confuse people with some cryptic saying on a brick on the walkway.

Fourth, I’ve already immortalized myself at CURF - mine and Amanda’s initials are carved on the sidewalk in front of the “back” entrance to Gross Hall (by the library entrance). Thank you, drive through.
