Yes, it’s true. The Detroit Tigers have signed Ivan Rodriguez to the tune of $40 million.
Is this a good move for the Tigers, who ended up 43-119 last year? The same Tigers who haven’t had a legit major-leaguer on their roster in (arguably) 10 years? I think so - even though Rodriguez is injury-prone (his back) and old for a catcher (32) - the importance of such a free-agent signing cannot be underestimated to Detroit sports fans.
