Page 2’s Jason Whitlock feels that Favre’s dad’s death has been overhyped, by a media who hasn’t paid attention to the kind of guy Favre is and how he elevates the play of his fellow charges.
Eric Neel’s made his picks for the weekend, and he favors the Pack (of course).
The gameday center for the upcoming collision between the Pack and the Eagles is now up at packers.com.
Gil Brandt has fantasy picks and predictions for the divisional weekend, and Boomer has a piece on QBs at nfl.com.
I’m thoroughly convinced that the Packers were trying to give every fan in Green Bay a coronary incident; the Seatlle game last weekend was a heckuva nail-biter, and they almost didn’t make it. But it was a thrilling finish (the defensive play called for the last play of the game is called the “Thriller” blitz, actually), and in the end, Seattle fans were sent away empty-handed - and Hasselbeck was left somewhat embarrassed for saying “we want the ball, and we’re going to score.”
So I’m on the phone with my good buddy Cheez during a good part of the fourth and the majority of the overtime period, and Seattle had worked their way to a dangerous-looking third and long.
At this point, I would ask you to remember the first prediction of the Football Prophet - the Quincy Carter-thrown interception to end the Cowboys’ last regular-season game.
And so, they line up, and I see the blitz forming. Hasselbeck hasn’t performed well under pressure all day - Green Bay should have continued to come after him nearly every down, in my opinion, because when they blitzed, he fell apart. But I see the blitzers lining up, and here’s the conversation just before the snap…
“Here it comes. Interception, run back for a touchdown.”
“No way. Not gonna happen. Sure would be nice, but you’re dreaming.”
“Hey, Pack fans can dream, can’t they?”
Snap, blitz, throw, interception by Al Harris, run-back for the easy six.
Amanda and I go crazy shouting - actually scaring Joshua, who is in her lap, to the point where he cries, even in his little Packers jersey and uni pants. We then calm down as the game clearly ends.
“I can’t believe I just heard you say that.”
The Football Prophet predicts an upset on Sunday afternoon - Pack over the Eagles.
