Just some random stuff to start off your day.

Time to throw out the linkage.

It seems that Photoshop CS detects and refuses to allow you to scan U.S., Canadian, and Euro currency of the current year’s series. It refers you to a web site listing legality of scanning banknotes, and refuses to allow you to open or print the file. Rumor has it that Paint Shop Pro also now has a built-in scanning algorithm of this type. Read a Google Groups thread about it here.

Pioneer has invented a digital audio and video turntable that will allow people to basically scratch with digital media sources, something I’ve been forecasting for a while, and I’m very impressed that they’ve managed to do this.

The JPL has made available to the public Maestro, the same software they use to control the new Mars rover Spirit. I’m downloading this right now, but you can apparently also download data packs from the Spirit expedition, and view the data with the same tools NASA is using right now. Wicked cool.
