Well, the situation I have been waiting for has just recently come to a head, and I’m not entirely sure what’s going to happen with it. There’s going to be a big announcement, and a big meeting, and I suppose I will see what happens with the whole situation after that point. If you are more curious than the vague descriptions I am dropping here, then please feel free to e-mail me, in which case I will feel more free to discuss the situation with you (depending on how much I trust you, of course). The situation is very sensitive, and I’m sure some of you already know what I’m talking about, but it’s an interesting thing nonetheless, and I’m a little distressed that I’ve been placed in the middle of it.
I am beginning a new project: I have become recently frustrated with the sensitivity of my soft dance pad for my PS2, and so I’m going to start work on a solid-state version of the same, cobbled together from components I’m collecting slowly. This thing’s not going to be cheap, which is a little frustrating, but it’s going to be something I MADE, and it’s going to be something WICKED-COOL.
So anyway, for those of you who don’t know already, I’ve been DDR-addicted now for close to a half-year. I spent a good portion of the summer leanring how to play it effectively, and two weeks ago, I brought my soft pad to the high-school lock-in we had here at church - and it was a HUGE hit. Everyone loved it, myself included - especially since I wiped the floor with all the high schoolers. The only problem with this situation is that they have me on videotape bustin’ out with DDR, which could be more than a little incriminating, depending on who sees the footage. But I A’d Sandstorm on Light for the first time at the lock-in, which is making me want to move up to Standard, even though there are still some high-difficulty songs I can’t take on Light, but I’m getting up there on working on 5-6 footers on a regular basis.
Freeze arrows are my friend. I need to snag a copy of DDRMAX2 so I can bust out to Days Go By.
The only part I’ve ordered so far is a set of 11″ square pieces of Lexan, which I’m getting cut for me by a really great plastics company here in Green Bay, which is just great. I’m getting it for what I believe is relatively cheap, even with the cuts being made FOR me, at $4.25 per panel (which you have to double to get the cost per arrow).
In unrelated news, Penny Arcade is doing something really neat this holiday season, called Child’s Play, which is going to benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital. They’re trying to gather together all sorts of toys, videos, and video games for children at the hospital to be able to check things out and have them - especially in places like the cancer ward, where kids have to be for weeks at a time in some cases. You should check out these pictures - they’ve collected an insane amount of things already, and there’s still plenty of time before Christmas. If you have money that I don’t, and are looking for something to do this Christmas season, I would suggest that you check it out.
