Well, Joshua finally discovered the fullness of joy that comes with being able to roll over yesterday, as he finally learned to repeat the act in succession. He rolled over for the first time at 2 months, but it was a bit of a fluke, and now he’s discovered that he really knows how to do this, and feels that he needs to demonstrate it all the time.
I’m very happy that we are moving in a few days and we don’t have to childproof this place in the meantime.
I called Amanda from work this morning, and she said that Joshua is rolling over at every opportunity (back-to-front at this point). The problem with this is that he doesn’t know yet how to free the one arm that gets pinned underneath him, so he flips over, struggles for a little while to steady himself, and then starts getting mad that he can’t move one arm and begins to cry. This is not really irritating, but I sometimes wonder if he really understands the cause and effect relationship that rolling over brings.
We put him to bed last night, and he cried for a while (necessitating a few pacifier reload trips to the bedroom), and then stopped. We figured he had fallen asleep. About ten minutes after the silence began, we heard a cry coming from the bedroom - he had rolled himself over in the crib and was thoroughly upset at himself for doing so! I am happy that he is a sound sleeper, and we don’t expect him to roll over in his sleep (which would be a SIDS-related risk problem at worst).
I have another post to make this afternoon, where I am going to gush about a lot of free programs I commonly use and like, and will also pimp out my web hosting company to those who are interested.
I also added the obligatory PayPal link down at the bottom of the left pane, since money being given to me is always a good thing, especially since we are running out of it and are forced to eat the same meals this week all the way until we leave, but I don’t expect much out of it, because the only people I know are poor like me.
