spare me the rampant anti-war rhetoric

I’m getting really tired of hearing everybody and their cousin talk about this Iraqi war with disdain and anger.

I have four friends of mine over there - four Marines - and I know they are doing their job and doing it well. They’re fighting to save lives - and I thoroughly believe that, no matter what the tree-hugging hippie crap that’s out there now would have you believe - they’re saving more Iraqi lives than you would even believe at this point…

And I don’t have a problem with that.

I *do* have issues with the way the Prez chooses to utilize and invoke Christianity. I think he’s dumbed it down to a least-common-denominator style of God that makes me worried about its use in public circles. That’s about all I’m going to say about that; let’s leave it at the fact that I don’t fully agree with his “civil religion.”

But some of my friends have begun to get more angry about this war than I ever could have imagined; don’t even get me started on Michael Moore (how neat that all the liberals can fall back on is “we didn’t elect you” - that’s a real strong platform, guys).

At some point, can’t you just be happy that you live in the country that’s safe enough to WIN something like this? That you don’t have to worry about other people coming in the night to kill you and your family? That those soldiers are dying for you, dying to protect you, even though you don’t want them to?

Those Marines I know would like everyone to know that they’re fighting for you as well, even though you don’t like it.

And they would appreciate a little respect.
